Until recently, you could only share a BIM 360 file with someone if they were invited to your project. That meant they needed a BIM 360 account. Now with the new Public Links feature, you can share a file with anyone – even if they don’t have an Autodesk account at all!

BIM 360 Docs Extended Access Program
Due to the current situation with COVID-19, Autodesk is offering certain products as an extended trial, free to use until May 31st. One of those products happens to be BIM 360 Docs. Let’s get into the details:
Let’s start with an overview of the Extended Access Program and how it applies to BIM 360 Docs:
Here is a link to some very useful information about the Extended Access Program: Extended Access Program for Cloud Collaboration Products
Are you a new customer or an existing customer? Have you been invited to a project or do you need to host your own? How does the extended trial apply to you? This video should clear it up:
Project Setup Videos:
- Adding a BIM 360 Account Admin
- Creating a Project
- Inviting Members to Your Project
- Creating Folders and Setting Permissions
So how do you actually sign up for the trial? The next video walks you though it:

Collaboration for Civil 3D – Part Ten – Review and Discussion
In this video series we will explore Collaboration for Civil 3D: the combination of Civil 3D and BIM 360 which enables cloud collaboration for Civil 3D projects.
In this final video in the series of 10, we’ll review the entire project simulation and discuss the benefits of moving Civil 3D project to the cloud for collaboration.
Collaboration for Civil 3D – Part Nine – Addressing the PM’s Comments
In this video series we will explore Collaboration for Civil 3D: the combination of Civil 3D and BIM 360 which enables cloud collaboration for Civil 3D projects.
In this ninth video in the series of 10, the BIM Manager receives the PM’s request, addresses the request, and communicates his actions back to the PM using BIM 360’s Issues functionality.
Collaboration for Civil 3D – Part Eight – Project Manager Review
In this video series we will explore Collaboration for Civil 3D: the combination of Civil 3D and BIM 360 which enables cloud collaboration for Civil 3D projects.
In this eight video in the series of 10, the Project Manager will use the BIM 360 web interface to review the drawing that had been created by the civil engineer. She will communicate her desired changes to the team by using BIM 360 mark-ups and issues. Also, using Issues, she will request that the BIM Manager add another member to the project team.
Collaboration for Civil 3D – Part Seven – Designing the Roads
In this video series we will explore Collaboration for Civil 3D: the combination of Civil 3D and BIM 360 which enables cloud collaboration for Civil 3D projects.
In this seventh video in the series of 10, the Civil Engineer on our project team will create a new Road Design drawing and reference in the other project drawings as well as the alignment and surface provided by the surveyor and designer. He will then use this information to create an existing ground profile and a proposed ground profile of the road.
Collaboration for Civil 3D – Part Six – Creating the 2D Layout
In this video series we will explore Collaboration for Civil 3D: the combination of Civil 3D and BIM 360 which enables cloud collaboration for Civil 3D projects.
In this sixth video in the series of 10, the Designer on our project team will create and share a drawing file of the 2D layout of the project. She will also publish a data shortcut for an alignment so that the rest of the team can use it for other purposes.
Collaboration for Civil 3D – Part Five – Creating and Sharing the Survey File
In this video series we will explore Collaboration for Civil 3D: the combination of Civil 3D and BIM 360 which enables cloud collaboration for Civil 3D projects.
In this fifth video in the series of 10, the Surveyor on our project team will create a topo drawing, share the drawing for the team, and share a data shortcut of the existing ground surface.
